Dodgy Maths going on here.
Was recommended people's energy by the company over the phone, asked for details to be provided over email and was not allowed because ot Data protection?!
Was pressured to make a decision then and there, but I asked for a call back the next day and checked the rates with Peoples Energy myself online. They're standard one year fix was indeed cheaper so when they called back I agreed to the switch.
On the confirmation email my tariff was listed as "EXCLUSIVE September 20" and the rate was actually higher than the standard one I could get myself from Golden Egg website.
From reading other reviews it seems as though everyone has been recommended this people's energy tariff, which I suspect has some commission built in for people's energy. I would suggest going to a more reputable company for your energy switching needs as they clearly do not compare actual rates from across the market.
Other issues I noticed with the call -
They are cold calling names and numbers probably harvested from somewhere.
They pretended to a data protection check to get more details from me, and sound more professional, for example:
"Could I please check your date of birth against what I have here" (they don't have my date of birth at all)
Thankfully I have a two week cooling off period to cancel my switch, and will definitely be taking advantage of that. Don't make my mistake!
